Introducing Jeremy Lukins – a cyber security expert and project manager since 2013 but a freelancer since 1998! Read on to learn why he got started in the industry, his greatest challenge and his most satisfying moment.
Please tell us a bit about who you are and what you do.
I’m an experienced information technology professional and wear a couple of hats. Firstly, I am a cyber security expert and offer awareness training, advice and policy guidance. I also work as a Project Manager from time to time and love getting stuck into projects.
How and when did you get started?
I’ve been freelance since 1998 but as a developer. I moved into cyber security and project management simultaneously back in 2013.
What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far?
I’ve been lucky generally but it can be very challenging running your own business, especially when work is hard to find.
What has been your most satisfying moment so far?
Every project success is great but managing a 15 month IT migration in the Netherlands is probably my highlight.
Would you recommend entrepreneurship to others?
Yes. Don’t go into it blind, but it can be very rewarding.
What was your motivation to become an entrepreneur?
I don’t really consider myself an entrepreneur, I’m simply motivated to work hard on projects and initiatives.
What drives you, what motivates you?
Number 1, my family. Number 2, a secure future.
