Global Entrepreneurship Week Celebration
For all those that ‘go against the grain’…
The world is full of ambitious people. People who care about others, who want to change the status quo, and who want to find new ways of doing the right thing. Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrates all of them, regardless of the industry they’ve chosen to inhabit.
In this brief article, we will look at the multitude of ideas and approaches, which make us (entrepreneurs) who we are – people who shape the world we live in. Let’s raise a glass and ring a bell for the ones that want to see the change for the better.
Life isn’t easy…
For anyone. In its diversity, multidimensionality, and adverse conditions in all the many ways, life is, well, just life. The magnificent beauty of it, however, is the fact that it is yours to live. There isn’t a set path to one’s existence and because of this simple truth, it is the more interesting to experience. So, let me ask you this – how is it going for you…?
Maybe, you’re still at university, skimming through tons of papers and finding new information to learn from and grow upon. Maybe, you’re already a working professional, working the day job to pay your bills or hustling to make your ends meet, while your own business takes its time to ‘hatch’. Maybe, you’re neither and you’re only just deciding what need doing on your behalf. Whatever your present situation is, I am here to tell you, it’s going to be okay. No matter what.
Because life isn’t easy, but it is also yours to make it work for you!
Entrepreneurship what…?
Sometimes, I wonder how many people around us actually understand what the term entrepreneurial means. While writing these words, I’ve realised I’m not even sure, whether my understanding of this word is appropriate. According to sources online, entrepreneurs are the people who start their own business ventures risking money loss in exchange for the chance to make money for themselves. I guess it is a fair definition, but I do not agree that it fully exhausts the topic.
An entrepreneur, young or old, big or small, new or experienced, is above all a person. A person with a certain way of looking at the world around them. They see opportunities, where others might observe challenges and jump into the abyss, where others might hesitate to look. They are the pathfinders and go-getters. They are the bold and the striving ones. They are the risk-takers.
So, next time you’re asked who you are, or who those overnight self-employees are, consider the answer ‘game changers’, because entrepreneurs thrive when the rules are not set yet!
Global week of celebration.
Global Entrepreneurship Week, which this year falls on the second week of November 2021, is the time to celebrate and raise awareness around the entrepreneurial movement. Held online and hosted by Denmark, this event aims to address the many challenges entrepreneurs have to face in the world of so many brackets and expectations. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas, inform the public, and provide support to the many makers of the new, who as self-sufficient they might be, would most likely appreciate a little help.
Throughout the course of the event, the Global Entrepreneurship Network aims to create a space for entrepreneurs to learn, discover, advise, and celebrate their efforts of making their own business ideas work. It is a unique opportunity to find all the answers in one place and connect with like-minded individuals.
So, take a look at genglobal.org and find the support you need!
But is this relevant to me…?
That is a great question and I am happy you’ve decided to ask it. The answer, as you may expect, is not a straightforward one. On one hand, if you’re interested in starting your own company or becoming a self-employed worker this is a definite yes, as there is no better way of ‘learning the ropes’ of entrepreneurship than from organisations that aim to help people like you. On the other, if you’re not planning to create a business or might want to stay within the niche you’re already working in as a freelancer, this event might be an opportunity suitable for someone else.
Although there is, without a doubt, learning to be gained for everyone, this is an event that targets a particular type of people and attending something unsuitable to your needs might be a waste of time. The bottom line is – it is worth looking it up. Because until you know whether it’s relevant, you cannot make an informed decision.
So, research before you attend, but do not hesitate to try!
What is your path…?
By now, you should be better informed about this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration and you might even know whether it’s an event for you. Whatever your decision might be, I would like to leave you with these few questions and phrases to ponder upon.
You are on a journey of your own. You’re living your life, discovering your calling, and finding out what works and what doesn’t. And that’s okay. So, tell me then – what is it that you want to do…? What is your life about…? Do you want to travel the world, create a business, or build your own house…? What life means to you…? Whatever your answer might be, it is the right one – for you.
So, take some time today and ask yourself where are you heading – what is your path…?
And whenever in doubt, remind yourself of this line from a poem by Robert Frost: ‘Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.’
